What firewall ports need to be open for SNMP communication between ONTAP and Cluster Switch

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cluster network switches NetApp
  • Cluster network switches from Broadcom
  • Cluster network switches from Cisco

Answer

Ports 161 and 162 must be allowed for SNMP communication (both directions)

  • SNMP is required if you want to monitor the Cluster switches from ONTAP
  • Additionally, for PING and SSH to work the respective ports also should be open on the firewall
