SAS port PHY disabled even after cable and IOM replacement

Issue

  • DegradedOnlinePort alert is reported for a SAS port:
[node-name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedOnlinePort_Alert , Alerting Resource = 0d raised by monitor node-connect
  • From sysconfig -a logs, it is found that one of the PHYs is disabled:

  slot 0: SAS Host Adapter 0d (Broadcom SAS3616W rev. 2, SAS, <UP>)
       Firmware rev:      12.00.00.00
       NVDATA rev:        12.03.01.02
       Base WWN:          5:XXXXX:XXXXX:4e
       Temperature:       Not Available
       Phy State:         [0] Enabled, 12.0 Gb/s
                          [1] Enabled, 12.0 Gb/s
                          [2] Enabled, 12.0 Gb/s
                          [3] Disabled

  • The PHY remains disabled, even after replacing the cable and IOM connected to it.
