ONTAP 9 system fails to boot with "This platform is not supported in this release." after IPv4 is disabled on BMC

Applies to

ONTAP 9.3 or earlier running on one of the following systems:

  • AFF A220
  • FAS2720
  • FAS2750

Issue

  • IPv4 is disabled, and only IPv6 is active for the BMC.
  • A filer or BMC reboot is performed.
  • The boot process displays the following messages and failure:

IPMI:Read midplane FRU common header:failed
***************************************************
 This platform is not supported in this release.
 The system will now halt
