How to check if a file downloaded from NetApp support site is intact

  • ONTAP installation images ("*_q_image.tgz")
  • Disk Drive firmware
  • Disk Shelf firmware
  • SP/BMC firmware
  • System Firmware and Diagnostics (Motherboard BIOS/Loader)
  • Ethernet switch firmware (Cisco NX-OS, Broadcom FASTPATH®)
  • Any file downloaded from anywhere with a reference checksum provided

Description

Software/firmware files downloaded from the NetApp support site should be verified using the checksums provided. If the file is corrupted during downloading and it is not detected unexpected issues will result when attempting to install or apply. This KB describes how to verify downloaded software/firmware.
