Answer

Shelf models and storage systems with embedded storage (which are also considered shelves from a storage perspective) are uniquely identified in ONTAP by examining both the shelf product ID and the shelf module, together. A specific shelf product ID and shelf module combination can be mapped to a model of a shelf or a storage system with embedded storage.

The following is a list of shelves, as they would be reported from a storage perspective in ONTAP:

Shelf Product ID (ONTAP) Shelf Module Shelf (Marketing Name)
NS224NSM100 NSM100 NS224
DS224-12        IOM12 DS224C
DS212-12      IOM12 DS212C
DS46012 IOM12 DS460C
DS4486 IOM6 DS4486
DS2246 IOM6 DS2246
DS4246 IOM6 DS4246
DS4243 IOM3 DS4243

The following is a list of AFF or FAS storage systems with embedded storage, as they would be reported from a storage perspective in ONTAP:

Shelf Product ID (ONTAP) Shelf Module Storage Systems

FS424-12     IOM12F AFF A700s
DS224-12       IOM12E AFF A220, AFF A200, AFF C190, FAS2750, FAS2650
DS212-12 IOM12E FAS2720, FAS2620
DS2246         IOM6E FAS2552, FAS2240-2
DS4246 IOM6E FAS2554, FAS2240-4
DS2126    IOM6E FAS2520, FAS2220
