Issue

During the switchback of 2-node MetroCluster, multiple host applications reported data corruption.

  • Oracle on Linux server:

Media Recovery failed with error 742
Errors in file
/xxxx/ora_dba/dbtrace/diag/rdbms/xxx/xxx/trace/xxx__10284.trc:
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00742: Log read detects lost write in thread %d sequence %d block %d
ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 1: '/xxx6/xxx/log2/xxx_42.log'
ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 1: '/xxx4/xxx/log1/xxx_41.log'
ORA-283 signalled during: ALTER DATABASE RECOVER database ...

alter database open resetlogs
ORA-1139 signalled during: alter database open resetlogs..

Corrupt block relative dba: 0x00cxxxxx (file 3, block 121469) 
Bad header found during buffer read 

  • ESX:

2020-05-06T10:12:19.521Z info hostd[2100299] [Originator@6876 sub=Vimsvc.ha-eventmgr] Event 729 : At least one corrupt on-disk lock was detected on volume 59a52d1e-5c60xxxx-xxxx-a0369f8xxxxx (DTS_xx_xxx_00). Other regions of the volume might be damaged too.
