Applies to

  • FAS8040
  • ONTAP 9

Issue

While the cluster health is good, the HA failover is not:

Example:

cluster::*> cf status
Takeover
Node             Partner      Possible     State Description
-------------- -------------- -------- -------------------------------------
cluster_01     cluster_02     false     Waiting for cluster_02, Takeover
                                        is not possible: Storage failover
                                        interconnect error, NVRAM log not
                                        synchronized, Disk inventory not
                                        exchanged
cluster_02     cluster_01     false     Waiting for cluster_01, Takeover
                                        is not possible: Storage failover
                                        interconnect error, NVRAM log not
                                        synchronized, Disk inventory not
                                        exchanged

NOTE: Rebooting either node has no effect, nor does a power cycle or re-seat of the motherboards.
