Answer

Does the AFF A220, AFF C190, AFF A150, FAS2750 or FAS2720 ship with two SAS cables for multipath HA (MP-HA) redundancy?

No. The default purchased configuration for these systems without external storage no longer includes SAS MP-HA cabling between nodes in the same chassis. This simplifies installation and subsequent servicing without adversely affecting system resiliency (as shown by Active IQ analysis of systems in the field with or without MP-HA cables). If desired, partners and customers can still choose to purchase and install these cables.

Does a FAS or AFF system with internal-only storage require two SAS cables for multipath HA (MP-HA) redundancy?

No. Active IQ analysis of systems in the field have shown that the storage resiliency of systems with internal-only storage remained the same with either single-path HA or MP-HA. If desired, partners and customers can still choose to purchase and install SAS cables for MP-HA.

When I expand an internal-only storage system with external shelves, should I cable it to support multipath HA (MP-HA) redundancy?

When expansion storage is added to systems that support it, NetApp recommends MP-HA cables be installed to improve resiliency for the multi-chassis system.
