Issue

Symptoms
  • The following errors are reported prior to node shutdown:

Sun Nov 26 18:06:47 +0900 [cluster-01: env_mgr: nvmem.battery.noCharge:alert]: The NVMEM battery is requesting to be charged but the charger is not charging the battery. To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 20 minutes.
Sun Nov 26 18:26:47 +0900 [cluster-01: env_mgr: monitor.shutdown.emergency:EMERGENCY]: Emergency shutdown: Environmental Reason Shutdown (Battery not charging)

  • Node may also report high current in EMS log before shutdown:
Tue May 10 06:47:09 -0400 [cluster-01: env_mgr: nvmem.battery.currentHigh:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery current is critically high (1725 mA). To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 5 minutes.
  • The following AutoSupport type might be seen:

HA Group Notification from cluster1-01 (BATTERY (no charge)) EMERGENCY

[?] Sun May 28 09:22:50 -0500 [cluster-01: env_mgr: nvmem.battery.capLowCrit:EMERGENCY]: The NVMEM battery capacity is critically low (0 cycles). To prevent data loss, the system will shut down in 20 minutes.
[?] Sun May 28 09:42:20 -0500 [cluster-01: env_mgr: monitor.shutdown.emergency:EMERGENCY]: Emergency shutdown: Environmental Reason Shutdown (Battery remain capacity critical)
