"disk partition" command fails due to “disk partition: <device> is not partitionable” error after disk replacement

Applies to

  • FAS2520
  • Data ONTAP 8.3

Issue

  • The replaced DISK cannot be partitioned automatically
  • Manual execution of rawsize command fails with "is not partitionable" 

Example:

cluster1-01*> disk partition -n 2 -i 1 -b ****** 0a.00.4 

disk partition: 0a.00.4 is not partitionable.
