Applies to

  • NetApp E-Series
  • ESXi 6.7.0
  • DelphixOS release 5.11 version dlpx-5.3.6.0

Issue

  • Disconnections on delphix host
  • dd command on delphix shows slow performance on disk expanded comparing with a good disk

Example:

Good disk:

dd if=/dev/rdsk/c4t1d0s0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k status=progress

4469030912 bytes (4.5 GB, 4.2 GiB) copied, 140007 s, 319MB/s

4337+0 records in

4336+0 records out

4546625536 bytes (4.5 GB, 4.2 GiB) copied, 1418888 s, 319MB/s

Expanded disk:

dd if=/dev/rdsk/c4t0d0s0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k status=progress

54+0 records in

53+0 records out

55574528 bytes (56MB GB, 53 MiB) copied, 26.39999 s, 2.1 MB/s

  • Expansion job completed correctly on NetApp E-Series side

Example:

Volume initialized with zeros - Volume <xxx>
Increase volume capacity - Volume <xxx>
Controller return status/function call for requested operation - Shelf 99, Bay B
----> RPC function : 0x005f = startVolumeExpansion
----> Return code  : 0x0001 = ok
Immediate availability initialization (IAF) started on volume - Volume <xxx>
Immediate availability initialization (IAF) completed on volume - Volume <xxx>
