Event Summary

  • An AutoSupport messages is generated with title: E-Series Notification from NetApp_ESERIES (Nominal temperature exceeded) CRITICAL
  • An associated case is generated with symptom: EHWENC:E-Series Notification from NetApp_ESERIES (Nominal temperature exceeded) CRITICAL
  • May also report toghether with: ECRFLT:E-Series Notification from NetApp_ESERIES (Write-back caching forcibly disabled) CRITICAL

Validate

  1. Login to SANtricity System Manager.
  2. Confirm SANtricity reports one of more of the following error messages in the Recovery GURU:

Failure Entry 1: NOMINAL_TEMP_EXCEEDED-Recovery Failure Type Code: 7 
Storage array: NetApp_ESERIES
Component reporting problem: Thermal sensor
Status: Nominal temperature exceeded
Location: Drive Tray 3 Power-fan canister (Right)
Component requiring service: Temperature sensor Tray: Drive tray 3

Resolution

  1. Check data center temperatures are within hardware specifications.
  2. Check the ambient temperatures near the front and rear of the chassis are within specifications.
  3. Confirm there is no dust or other hardware configurations blocking proper airflow control to the system.
  4. Contact NetApp Technical Support for additional support
