NFS VAAI - Attempting to create thin VMDKs results in Thick Provisioned Lazy Zeroed VMDKs

Issue

You create a thin VMDK disk for a new or existing virtual machine.  However, the disk created is a  Thick Provisioned Lazy Zeroed disk 

  • This is seen when a disk creation operation is initiated on a indirect volume mount by an ESXi host with NFS VAAI installed

Note: Indirect volume mounts are when a volume is mounted to a LIF that is on a node that is not local to the volume.
