Answer

This option enables continuous media scrubbing on the NetApp filer. The default value is on and the syntax to set it is \'options raid.media_scrub.enable on\'.

The performance impact due to media_scrub is negligible. Continuous media scrubbing substantially reduces the probability of data loss due to media errors found during reconstruction.
Hence, NetApp recommends leaving this option enabled.

Note:
For R100, R150 and R200 systems, we recommend that you turn scrubbing off if you encounter repeated drive timeouts and recoveries.
