Speed/duplex mismatch on Ethernet interface or Interface Group (ifgrp)

Applies to

  • Product Model: All FAS/V-Series models
  • OS: Data ONTAP 7-Mode or clustered Data ONTAP
  • One or more Ethernet interfaces of any speed

Issue

The storage system reports one or more interfaces reporting one of the following errors:
Sat Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT [storage01: pvif_monitor: pvif.speedDuplexErr:warning]: ifgrp: vif1: Link e0a Detected speed/duplex mismatch current(1000,1) config(100,1)
Sat Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT [storage01: pvif_monitor: pvif.speedDuplexErr:warning]: ifgrp: vif1: Link e0a Detected speed/duplex mismatch current(100,1) config(1000,1)

The interface might be unreachable or there might be packet loss which could result in low throughput.

This might occur immediately after a link is connected, or after a period of time where no issues exist.
