Downloading ONTAP image fails with "/mnt: write failed, filesystem is full"

Issue

Attempting to install ONTAP through option 7 at the boot menu may result in an error similar to the following:
 
/mnt: write failed, filesystem is full
Downloading package... out of space.
The file downloaded is too large. Please verify that it is a valid
Data ONTAP (R) image. If the problem persists, try setting
bootarg.install.ramdisksize (currently XXXM) to a higher value,
or contact Customer Support.
Retry? {y|n} [y]
 
However, when retrying, the error remains the same.
