dns.server.timed.out DNS timeouts due to no response from DNS servers within configured timeout for ONTAP 9

Issue

  • CIFS/SMB shares and NFS exports do not respond
  • A timeout occurs when DNS does not respond within the configured timeout period. 
  • The following errors are logged in EMS:
    • [NODENAME: mgwd: dns.server.timed.out:error]: DNS server x.x.x.x did not respond to vserver = svm3 within timeout interval.
  • Errors might be seen in SECD:

  • There might or might not be any user impact seen due to these errors
