cifs server deletion failed with Error "Local domain "S-1-5-21-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" not found"

Issue

  • In order to delete the vserver, CIFS server needs to be deleted on vserver.
  • When try to delete the CIFS server, the following error message displayed: 

::*>cifs delete -vserver vserver1

In order to delete an Active Directory machine account for the CIFS server, you must supply the name and password of a Windows account with sufficient privileges to remove computers from the"DOMAIN.LOCAL" domain.

Enter the user name: Administrator

Enter the password:

Warning: There are one or more shares associated with this CIFS server
               Do you really want to delete this CIFS server and all its shares? {y|n}: y

Warning: Unable to delete the Active Directory computer account for this CIFS server.
                Do you want to continue with CIFS server deletion anyway? {y|n}: y

Error: command failed: Local domain "S-1-5-21-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" not found
