Which ONTAP release is recommended for disks?

As of March 2017:

Data ONTAP®: Enhancements have been implemented, including several critical software changes to improve hardware-induced error handling in a non-disruptive manner. These enhancements reduce the probability of a disruption for these issues, improve system stability and enhance diagnostic capabilities. It is highly recommended to operate your system under at least the minimum Data ONTAP as indicated here:

  • For systems having Data ONTAP release versions earlier than 7.3.7P1, 8.0.3P3, 8.1.4P8, 8.2.4, or 8.3.1; upgrade Data ONTAP per the 'Recommended Release Table' documented in Support Bulletin ID: SU2 :  Recommended ONTAP releases on the NetApp Support Site.


As of March 2016:

  • For systems having Data ONTAP release versions earlier than 7.3.7P1, 8.0.3P3, 8.1.4P8, 8.2.3, or 8.3P2; upgrade Data ONTAP per the 'Recommended Release Table' documented in Support Bulletin ID: SU2 :  Recommended ONTAP releases on the NetApp Support Site.


Before March 2016:
