Used size of qtree CIFS share shows post-dedup size even logical space reporting is enabled
Applies to
- ONTAP 9.7
- ONTAP 9.8
Issue
Used size of qtree level CIFS share shows post-dedup size on windows client even enabling the volume option is-space-enforcement-logical, is-space-reporting-logical
.
Example:
- Create qtree1 on a volume.
- Create
quota
on qtree without-disk-limit
. - Save three same files to qtree1, the total size is 600 MB.
- Run deduplication for the volume.
- Enable the volume option
is-space-enforcement-logical, is-space-reporting-logical
. df -h
command shows volume used as 200 MB.- Mount CIFS share of qtree level (path till qtree1).
- Properties of this qtree level share should show Used space as pre-dedup size (600 MB), but it shows as post-dedup size (200 MB).
Note: ONTAP 9.9.1 and later shows pre-dedup size normally.
