Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.0
  • ONTAP 9.1 up to ONTAP 9.1P3
  • 2-node SAN Cluster when one node is in a taken-over state and the surviving HA partner node goes through a reboot

Issue

  • Cluster running ONTAP 9.0 or 9.1 with one node in takeover state for an extended period
  • SAN Logical Interfaces (LIFs) will fail to come up after the reboot on the surviving node

::> net int show
  (network interface show)
            Logical    Status     Network            Current       Current Is
Vserver     Interface  Admin/Oper Address/Mask       Node          Port    Home
----------- ---------- ---------- ------------------ ------------- ------- ----
svm_win
            LIF_1-1    up/-    20:01:00:a0:98:bb:xx:xx    cluster1-01   0e     true
            LIF_1-2    up/-    20:02:00:a0:98:bb:xx:xx    cluster1-01   0f     true

  • Unable to modify existing or create new LIFs

::> net int create -vserver <vserver> -lif test -data-protocol fcp -role data -home-node  cluster1-01 -home-port 0e
  (network interface create)

Error: command failed: No nodes are available to process the command. Verify that all nodes are healthy using the "cluster show" command, then try the command again.
