Issue

Node configuration data loss can occur if certain boot environment variables are incorrectly set and the node is a member of a cluster and the node subsequently rebooted.

Same can occur with the following scenarios:

Unable to join new nodes to the cluster
New nodes were downgraded to match the existing cluster nodes
After downgrade one node reports:

sed: /var/etc/nsswitch.conf: No such file or directory

Attempting to use existing varfs on /dev/nvrd1

Skipped backing up /var file system to boot device.

login: varfs_backup_restore: bootarg.abandon_varfs is set! Skipping /var backup.

varfs_backup_restore: bootarg.abandon_varfs is set! Skipping /var backup.
