ONTAP 9.7 upgrade failure when node option disk.auto.read_after_write_verify.enable is set to off

Issue

  • The following message will be observed on boot-up

WARNING: Turning off automatic read-after-write verification might cause filesystem inconsistencies.
This should not be disabled, unless directed to do so by support personnel.
Do you want to continue {y|n}?

  • While the message prompts for user input, the boot-up prevents the user from providing input.
  • The follow error messages will be observed on boot-up

WARNING: netapp_mount_mroot: d-blade boot is incomplete.

and

netapp_mount_mroot: /mroot is not mounted, retrying...
WARNING: netapp_mount_mroot: Giving up waiting for mroot after 1201 seconds.
   =mount_spin: /mroot: Connection reset by peer
ERROR: Please communicate the above information to support.

  • Other errors such as MDB RECOVERY UNSUCCESSFUL maybe observed as well.
