Thin-provisioned volume

Issue

A df command from an NFS client shows a large amount of used space:

[root@nfs-client ~]$ df -h /mnt/vol1
Filesystem              Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
nfssvm:/vol1            950G  530G  421G  56% /nfsdata

A du command run on the NFS client shows the expected space usage:

[root@nfs-client ~]$ du -sh /nfsdata
492K     /nfsdata

ONTAP returns the expected data:

Cluster01::> df -h vol1
Filesystem               total       used      avail capacity  Mounted on                 Vserver
/vol/vol1/               950GB      492KB      420GB       0%  /vol1                      nfssvm
/vol/vol1/.snapshot      50GB       516KB       49GB       0%  /vol1/.snapshot            nfssvm
