Linux client mounts CIFS share fails with error "write-protected, mounting read-only"

Issue

Get the following error when mounting a CIFS share on a Linux client:

[root@promote ~]# mount -t cifs -o username=username,password=password //192.168.1.108/mysqldata /mydata/data/mount

mount: //xx.xx.xx.xx is write-protected, mounting read-only

mount: cannot mount read-only
