LIF goes down during a takeover with error " extCache.rw.timeout:notice"

  • ONTAP 9.6

Issue

  • In the takeover scenario, the survival node's LIFs is taken down and again re-hosted, which caused IO interruptions.

Example:

Fri Feb 07 11:42:54 CST [survival_name: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifBeingRemoved:notice]: LIF survival_lif2 (on virtual server  4), IP address x.x.x.x, is being removed from node survival_name, port port_name.

Fri Feb 07 11:43:24 CST [failover_name: shutdown_thread0: extCache.rw.terminated:notice]: WAFL external cache warming process terminated.
Fri Feb 07 11:43:24 CST [failover_name: shutdown_thread0: extCache.rw.timeout:notice]: WAFL external cache warming process exceeded its maximum allowable time and was aborted

Fri Feb 07 11:43:32 CST [survival_name: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifsuccessfullymoved:notice]: LIF survival_lif2 (on virtual server 5), IP address x.x.x.x, is now hosted on node survival_name, port port_name.
