Description

The Diag user in ONTAP:

  • Built-in default local account
  • Only used to access to the Systemshell
  • Locked by default for security reasons
  • Requires setting password before first use

Note: Systemshell access is only used for diagnostic purposes..

The diag user account is locked if you get the following error message when trying to login to Systemshell:  

Unable to launch systemshell because the 'diag' user is locked.
