  • Compaction

Description

  • Beginning ONTAP release 9.2, storage efficiency is enabled by default on All Flash FAS (AFF) platforms.
  • Under certain conditions it may become necessary to undo the SE savings:
  1. Converting a thin provisioned volume to thick and hosting a LUN, since AFF by default creates thin provisioned volumes
  2. Changing the SE compression type
  3. Changing the application io size to improve the compression savings
