Clustered Data ONTAP 8

Description

  • Vservers can be renamed in clustered Data ONTAP 8 without any disruption to client machines.
  • This is because the change will not be visible to clients as they connect to the Vserver using the protocol addresses and normal hostname resolution.
  • Note: This Knowledge Base article is only applicable to clustered Data ONTAP 8, and does not apply to ONTAP 9. ONTAP 9 does not have the same SVM peer relationship and SVM rename interaction.
  • For more information, see KB What are the implications of renaming an SVM in clustered Data ONTAP?
