Answer

The only way to prevent critical directories from being renamed while clients are access sub-paths of the directories is to control who has permissions to change the name of the directory. There is no single setting to control users' renaming of directories.

Additional Information

ONTAP differs from Windows on handling locks on share path components, so in some environments additional precautions may need to be taken to prevent unintended consequences of changing the name of a critical directory.
