Description

How to move LUNs between nodes non-disruptively

  • LUNs can be moved across volumes within a storage virtual machine (SVM), but not across SVMs.
  • LUNs moved across volumes within an SVM are moved immediately and without loss of connectivity.
  • A LUN cannot be moved to SnapMirror destination volumes or SVM root volumes
  • The following types of LUNs cannot be moved if it was/is
    • created from a file
    • in NVFail state
    • part of load-sharing relationship
    • protocol-endpoint class LUN
  • For Solaris os_type LUNs 1 TB or larger, the host might experience a timeout during the LUN move: Unmount the LUN before initiating the move.
