How to manually flush a DNS entry from cache in ONTAP 9

Description

  • DNS lookups performed via the ONTAP CLI sometimes differ from those present in the configured DNS servers for a given SVM. 
  • There may be an outdated entry in the cache, either because the old record's life time hasn't expired, or 
  • DNS is not being reached out to. This may be brought about by having a manual configuration in place, in which case DNS will not be queried.
  • To view the current cache run (requires being in advanced priviledge mode):
    • ::*> vserver services name-service cache hosts forward-lookup show
