Answer

Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 support up to:

  • Eight buses per adapter
  • 128 target IDs per bus
  • 255 LUNs per target ID

Windows Server 2012 and later versions of Windows support up to:

  • 255 buses per adapter
  • 128 target IDs per bus
  • 255 LUNs per target ID

Windows officially supports up to 32 paths to a lun.

Adding a device that takes the total path count of the host over 1,024 will cause the paths over 1,024 to not be used and potentially not recognize a new LUN.

Additional Information

Adding a device that takes the total path count of the host over 1,024 will cause the paths over 1,024 to not be used and potentially not recognize a new LUN.
