Issue
- The following error message was seen when accessing a Common Internet File System protocol (CIFS) share resource (
\filername\voltest
): - From the Microsoft Windows client:
Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name is not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again
OR
The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.
- This error is present when a client attempts to access a UNC path, on the same TCP stream, with more than one set of credentials
- Example:
- Accessing a UNC path (\\servername\share) that is already mapped with a different username
- Example:
- This condition can been seen (but not limited to) while utilizing the following:
- net use
- Batch scripting
- Various services
- Mapping a shared drive with alternate credentials
