Issue

  • In ONTAP 9.8 and later, an attempt to create a cluster switch entry using the commands 'system cluster-switch create' or 'system switch ethernet create' fails with the following error message:

cluster1::> set advanced
cluster1::*> system switch ethernet create -device switch1 -address 10.10.10.1 -model OTHER -type cluster-network -is-monitoring-enabled-admin true
Error: SNMP validation request timed out. Verify that the "-community-or-username" value is valid.

  • The 'Reason' field of the 'system cluster-switch show' command output has the value 'Invalid SNMP Settings'
