ONTAP does not support group quotas based on Windows group IDs. If you specify a Windows group ID as the quota target, the quota is considered to be a user quota.

Additional Information

  • This feature can be requested in RFE (Request For Enhancement) titled:  

RFE: want to be able to use Windows AD groups when defining quotas for users/volumes

  • Customers who need this feature can open a Support ticket to have the case added to the request.
  • Customers should specify the following when requesting this feature:
  1. Justification/why this feature is needed?
  2. What is their Business Impact without this feature (if any)?
