Issue

In a CIFS share, some files show access denied while other files allow access (read or write). In some cases, attempts to view permissions also fail due to a lack of access.

The following holds true in this scenario:

  • Windows ACLs on the file is such that the user attempting access has rights (or assumed to be if the user cannot view permissions)
  • Export policies show that the client should have access to the volume; however, if other files are accessible, then export policies for a volume should not be an issue.
