setup-mnode script or Management Services update fails on Element mNode 12.2+ with configure_element_auth error

  • Element management node (mNode) version 12.2 and above
  • NetApp Element storage clusters running on one of the following Element versions:
    • 11.3
    • 11.5
    • 11.7
    • 12.0
    • 12.2
    • 12.3

Issue

  • While either attempting to set up the mNode using the /sf/packages/mnode/setup-mnode script or when updating Management Services on the mNode, the process fails with an accompanying auth error (in /var/log/sf-nde.info):

    • Failed to update element-auth configuration
  • The setup-mnode script is failed with the same error as above when the cluster is still in upgrade mode (eg,11.5->12.3).
