mNode intermittently stops reporting during stuck HCC FW upgrade

Applies to

  • NetApp Element management node (mNode)
  • Ongoing (firmware) upgrade via Hybric Cloud Control (HCC)
  • Upgrade in pending or stuck status for extended period of time

Issue

  • /var/log folder running out of space due to large sf-urtfi-init.info file
  • mNode reboots due to insufficient space in /var/log
  • last reboot command on mNode will show frequent reboots
  • Reporting to Active IQ intermittently breaks as containers are not coming back up immediately due to /var/log running full
  • mNode kernel reporting about space issues
    kernel: [    2.103330] pci 0000:00:18.2: BAR 13: no space for [io  size 0x1000]
    kernel: [    2.103333] pci 0000:00:17.7: BAR 13: no space for [io  size 0x1000]
    kernel: [    2.103336] pci 0000:00:17.6: BAR 13: no space for [io  size 0x1000]
  • False positive error status about already upgraded systems do not get resolved
    • Upgrade error
    • Unable to detect
