Element upgrade on H610S hangs at PreparePivotRoot on mNode, Waiting for background processes to complete on node

Issue

  • While upgrading an H610S system to Element 12.3.1.103 the upgrade process hangs at "PreparePivotRoot" on the management node (mNode)
    • Note: This issue is fixed in Element Software 12.3.1.165 and only applies to upgrades to Element Software 12.3.1.103
  • The storage node's console (which can be viewed via BMC remote control or by directly connecting to the node) shows that the node is stuck at "Waiting for background processes to complete"
  • If the block sync timeout (4 hours during upgrade, 5.5 minutes during normal operation) is reached then the storage node's drives will be synced out
  • On the mNode:
