Answer

  • During a SnapMirror/SnapVault  restore  a relationship of type  RST is created
  • the RST relationship should only exist until the restore finished successfully.
  • When a relationship type RST is visible in snapmirror show, but there is not an active SnapMirror restore, it implies the RST needs to be cleaned up

cluster::> snapmirror show
Source          Destination  Mirror       Relationship  Total             Last
Path       Type Path         State        Status        Progress  Healthy Updated
---------- ---- ------------ ------------ ------------- --------- ------- -------
SM1:vol1   RST  SVM1:Restore Snapmirrored Idle          -         true    -

  • How to use the-clean-up-failure flag:

snapmirror restore -source-path <source path> -destination-path <destination path> -clean-up-failure

  • This will roll back to the state before the attempted restore
