Answer

  • Transition data protection (TDP) type of relationships are not supported for regular data protection
  • The relationships between 7-Mode and cDOT clusters are supported only for transition/migration
  • Relationships transferring data from cDOT cluster to 7-Mode are not supported
  • it is not possible to resynchronize data from a clustered Data ONTAP volume back to a 7-Mode volume
  • TDP relationships are not supported with MetroCluster switchover/switchback operations
  • SVM-DR is not supported between 7-Mode and cDOT clusters
  • SVM-DR does not support TMP type volumes as sources
    • You can cut over the transition and create SVM-DR between cDOT clusters, but you will need to specify the relation type as DP and later convert it to XDP due to pre 8.2 snapshots
  • Cascades that involve TDP relationships are not supported
    • The destination volume of an active SnapMirror TDP relationship cannot be used as the source for another SnapMirror relationship
  • Relationships transferring data from cDOT cluster to 7-Mode are not supported
  • Verify the interoperability for a TDP relationship. The following cDOT ONTAP versions are supported:
    • ONTAP 9.8 and later
    • ONTAP 9.7 P2 and later
    • ONTAP 9.6 P7 and later
    • ONTAP 9.0 to ONTAP 9.5
