  • ONTAP 9
  • 7-Mode Transition Tool (7MTT)
  • Data ONTAP 7-Mode
  • Transition Data Protection (TDP)

Answer

  • TDP type of relationships are not supported for regular data protection
  • The relationships between 7-Mode and ONTAP clusters are supported only for transition/migration thru 9.11.1
  • Relationships transferring data from ONTAP cluster to 7-Mode are not supported
  • it is not possible to resynchronize data from an ONTAP volume back to a 7-Mode volume
  • TDP relationships are not supported with MetroCluster switchover/switchback operations
  • SVM-DR is not supported between 7-Mode and ONTAP clusters
  • SVM-DR does not support TMP type volumes as sources
    • You can cut over the transition and create SVM-DR between ONTAP clusters, but you will need to specify the relation type as DP and later convert it to XDP due to pre 8.2 snapshots
  • Cascades that involve TDP relationships are not supported
    • The destination volume of an active SnapMirror TDP relationship cannot be used as the source for another SnapMirror relationship
  • Relationships transferring data from ONTAP cluster to 7-Mode are not supported
  • Verify the interoperability for a TDP relationship
    • Support for TDP was dropped in ONTAP 9.12.1 and later
