SVMDR update fails for clones of unprotected volumes with error : Parent snapshot is empty for clone volume

Issue

  • SVMDR configuration update fails with the following error

Failed to apply the source Vserver configuration. Reason: Unrecoverable error during configuration replication, requires manual intervention. Error: Cannot fetch parent volume snapshot details for Flexclone SVM1_DR:Vol1_12345. Reason: Parent snapshot is empty for clone volume. If the parent volume is offline, either bring it online on the source cluster or contact technical support to add the clone volume to the "Allowed Clone Volumes" list on the destination cluster.Execute "snapmirror show -destination-vserver SVM1_DR -fields last-transfer-error,unhealthy-reason -expand" to check if the constituent volumes have encountered errors

  • CRS-log on the destination cluster will show the following error

Apply failed for Object: volume Method: baseline Row: Table Name: volume, Operation: get, Fields:SVM1_DR vol1_12345  ....  SVM1 vol1 (unavailable)  Reason: Unrecoverable error during configuration replication, requires manual intervention. Error:Cannot fetch parent volume snapshot details for Flexclone SVM1_DR:vol1_12345. Reason: Parent snapshot is empty for clone volume. If the parent volume is offline, either bring it online on the source cluster or contact technical support to add the clone volume to the "Allowed Clone Volumes" list on the destination cluster
