SVMDR interoperability between ONTAP versions
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- SVMDR
Description
- In ONTAP 9 article "Understanding SnapMirror SVM replication", there is a note advising "Version-independence is not supported for SVM replication"
- This means that, regardless of the replication protocol being used (i.e. DP or XDP), the destination ONTAP release must be equal or higher than the source and no more than 2 releases away from the source ONTAP release.
- The rules about which releases are supported forward and backwards are identical to those for DP even if you are using XDP.
