SnapCenter Server upgrade fails due to MySQL upgrade failure

Issue

  • SnapCenter Server upgrade fails when attempting to upgrade MySQL but does not give a specific error.
  • The MySQLInstaller_<date>_<time>.log (located in temp directory of logged in user) shows the upgrade as failed [example below shows an upgrade attempt of SnapCenter 4.6 (uses MySQL 5.7.36) to SnapCenter 4.7P2 (uses MySQL 5.7.39)]:

Install MySQL Server.Log: Installation : The following upgrades will be performed:
Install MySQL Server.Log: Installation :     MySQL Server  5.7.36 -> 5.7.39
Install MySQL Server.Log: Installation : Press [Y] to continue, any other character to abort: Starting product upgrade ...
Install MySQL Server.Log: Installation : [Upgrade]  mysql-server 5.7.36 X64 -> 5.7.39 X64failed!

  • Manual attempts to upgrade MySQL Server fail due to being unable to locate the currently installed 'MySQL Installer - Community' installer file:
