Applies to

  • SnapCenter Server (SC) 4.4
  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server (SCSQL) 4.4
  • Full backup and Up To the Minute (UTM) retention

Issue

  • SC fails to remove both database and Up To the Minute (UTM) snapshots and no error shown in the job logs
  • The <installation_path>\NetApp\SnapCenter\App_Data\log\SnapManagerWeb_<id>.log shows that SC recognizes the snapshot to delete but does not do so:

DEBUG SnapManagerWeb_33027 PID=[14504] TID=[64] Enter GetSnapshotNamesToBeDeleted
DEBUG SnapManagerWeb_33027 PID=[14504] TID=[64] Found 1 entries in database in table nsm_BackupToSnapshot for backupId : <ID_number>
DEBUG SnapManagerWeb_33027 PID=[14504] TID=[64] Found 1 snapshots found in backup component for backupId : <ID_number>
DEBUG SnapManagerWeb_33027 PID=[14504] TID=[64] Snapshot names : <snapshot_name>

It only removes the snapshot from the SnapInfo volume:

DEBUG SnapManagerWeb_33027 PID=[14504] TID=[64] Removed snapshots successfully: <SVM_Name>  -Volume <snapinfo_volume_name>, -Snapshot <snapshot_name>
