SCV backup job fails due to "Discovering Resources" failure caused by name resolution issue

Issue

  • SnapCenter fails to discover resources by the following error during SCV backup job.

Activity 'Discovering Resources' failed with error: Unable to get storage details for datastore <VOLUME> with managed object reference <DATASTORE>. 
Storage system(s) may need to be added, also ensure that the associated host is in a connected state.

  • The following error message is reported in the SnapDriveSALDebug.log.

No storage footprint available. Error : Failed to get the storage system for host resource : Name : /<VOLUME>, Type: SDNASDir, Code : 104
 Error Message : Failed to get the storage system for host resource : Name : /<VOLUME>, Type: SDNASDir, Error Code : 
<TIMESTAMP> Verbose SAL PID=[xxxx] TID=[xxxx] --SDStorageFootprintProvider::SDGetStorage
<TIMESTAMP> Warning SAL PID=[xxxx] TID=[xxxx] No such host is known at System.Net.Dns.InternalGetHostByAddress(IPAddress address, Boolean includeIPv6)
