SCV 4.4 backup retention fails with error "Error writing to server"

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere (SCV) 4.4
  • Datastore backup

Issue

  • The backup stage completes successfully but shows the Warning status in the SCV Job Monitor
  • Retention fails with the following error in the SCV Job Details window:

Error: Unable to perform backup retention on the SnapCenter server: Error writing to server

  • The wfe_<jobID>.log will show the error:
    Activity (Backup Retention) of Workflow (WorkflowExecutor), Failed with error: Unable to perform backup retention on SnapCenter server: Error writing to server
