NDB or SCV backups failing with "getMo was passed a null pointer for ServiceInstance"

Issue

  • Backup fails with error: "Unable to discover resources on SCV: getMo was passed a null pointer for ServiceInstance".

  • vmcontrol.log shows that the vSphere session is reported a NULL.

Example:
